Checklist for printing

  • Correct aspect ratio for print size ordered
  • Colour managed, sRGB or Adobe RGB (1998) embedded colour space
  • File formats: TIFF, JPG, PNG (see notes below)*
  • File size set as print output size, between 240dpi – 300dpi
  • No CMYK files

Take care to supply files suitable for high quality print production and that your preparation work is done on a correctly calibrated screen.

Aspect Ratio

The aspect ratio of your uploaded image must match the aspect ratio for the print size that you order

Ensure that your image aspect ratio is correct, image aspect ratio must match print aspect ratio.

For example, if you supply a square image but order a print at A4 then the printed image will be cropped or distorted.

Custom size prints

When you place a print order at your digital image files will be output at the sizes entered into the “Image Short Side” and “Image Long Side” fields on our custom print order screen.

For example, you may wish to have your image file printed at A3 dimensions (297mm x 420mm), as shown in this example

and so in your image editing software the size settings for your image file might look something like this.

Therefore on our custom order page enter the following output dimensions:

Image Short Side (mm) – 297
Image Long Side (mm) – 420

*File formats

The print-ready service is based on the use of JPG, PNG or TIFF files. JPG files are recommended as they are excellent for electronic transfer and your uploads will be faster.

When preparing your JPG print files ensure that they are exported at a High or Maximum quality setting.

For our custom print service either JPG, PNG or TIFF file formats can be supplied.

CMYK files are not accepted for giclee print orders through our our website however we can offer PDF conversion services in order to produce RGB files suitable for printing. Contact us for details.
